José Beirão

José Beirão currently teaches at the Lisbon School of Architecture, Universidade de Lisboa. He is an effective member of the Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design (CIAUD) and the Head of the Design Computation Group (DCG). His research interests focus on the use of geographic databases (spatialized data) and algorithms to investigate the following concepts: (1) green planning for the circular economy (2) measurement of urbanity parameters and urban morphology, (3) evolutionary systems for urban design, (4) customization systems for social housing, including urban-level actions, and algorithm- supported generation of housing and urban systems; (5) spatial analysis and planning, (6) decision support tools for urban planning.
